Little Chick

Today a HUGE cool promotion went out only to our clients that are signed up for our emails. if you missed it in your inbox, go to the front splash page and sign up so you can be on it.  If you would like to get it, just drop me a line at Kristin@whispersphotography.com.  We have our times mixed up a little on it...just know that the promotion must be used by May 25th.

This is one cute CHICK! She's had one heck of a year battling sickness.  I was so happy to get to see her today and thrilled with her orange outfit.

Have a great day, little Addison.

Could I Have Loved Cake??

Walker1sarah223f I am going to go with a HUGE no.  Sarah is one, and she has been coming to my studio since she was born.  I am pretty sure it was just to keep up with her big sister Molly, who also has been coming here since she was born.

We thought "Hey, let's do a smash-cake session - that sounds great! Let's get a cool Walker1sarah284edit cake with wild colors and let this sweet little one dig in..." Little did we know Sarah was thinking "umm...NO!" She really didn't touch it. We tried to trick her into even looking at the cake by putting it on a stool but alas, that did not convince her that it would taste any better. So finally we said  "WE'RE hungry...lets eat it!!" and so we did.

The hardest part about this session was keeping the camera steady. I couldn't stop laughing.  Her daddy was standing behind me with full narration of the session, and what his daughter was thinking.  My favorite part is when they all started to sing "She's a Maniac" to compliment Sarah's leg warmers.  Which I found super sweet and a little Flashdance-rish :)

I hope you all had a GREAT Easter !!!

“Find Me Someone Fantastic!”

update***  As of April 11th 2008 we found someone GREAT!!  thank you for all your emails and well wishes.

Announcing Kristin’s “Find Me Someone Fantastic!” Contest

I have bad news and good news. The bad news is that Rachel, my trusty assistant, is leaving this Friday. Rats. This brings me to the good news – I get to find someone new and cool to work with!

So I got to consulting myself about who this might be – “Since I have to spend lots of time with an assistant/office manager, they should be fun, right? I talk to lots of fun people through the Blog, right?”  So to the Blog I go!

I’m looking for someone to be both an office manager and, at times, a production assistant. This is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays (but the hours have been flexible in the past to accommodate class schedules or picking up kids from school). Organizing files, answering calls, working with newborns, toddlers, kids, high school seniors, and their parents, setting up for sessions, handling orders, and much, much more – all included in the job description.

And to make it even more fun, I’m turning it into a CONTEST. The person who finds me a trusty assistant  gets the following:

  • Free session here at Whispers studio
  • 40”x60” or bigger canvas from that session (Let me say this another way: that’s a canvas that's FIVE FEET WIDE…a trophy like no other)
  • 50 note cards so you can write to everyone and brag about your success

RULES!!!

  • Resumes must be sent by the applicant (So I don’t have to ever say the following: “No, this is Kristin…from Whispers Photography…no, I’m not trying to sell you pictures…)
  • Applicants should mention who told them about the job clearly in their e-mail.
  • If you are referring yourself, you are ineligible to receive the prize as listed above. Whispers’ employees automatically get a free session after six months, deep discounts on all products and even money you can use toward those products (earned hourly, otherwise known as a paycheck). Don’t worry, employees get perks aplenty…
  • To enter, e-mail the resume to: kristin@whispersphotography.com; DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES: Friday, April  11, 2008 at 1 p.m. Central time.
  • I’ll say it again: send resumes and questions BY E-MAIL. No posting personal information on the Blog!!
  • The job is located in Madison, Alabama, so applicants should live here or within commuting distance
  • The prize is awarded on the six-month anniversary of the hire date (This is so important that I will re-phrase – my assistant must be hired and work for six full months before the person who referred him/her gets the prize package listed above)
  • Void where prohibited by law, rules subject to change without notice, etc.
Good luck and here we go!

Little Sister

Whispers030902008_2 A long time client's (little Miss Emma)  parents went off and had a little sister - sweet Caroline Braxton ( I hope I spelled that right).  This little one is just as marvelous as her sister.

What I find so interesting is how perfectly this whole family fits together.  They were made to be together and it shows in every little thing they do.  During the session Emma (the big sister) was all over talking and trying to rescue Nemo and getting her backpack on.  She would weave in and out of the session. She never once threw off what we were doing because I firmly believe if she wasn't there, the little one would have never slept.  She needed that part of her family puzzle to make the whole thing work.

I love all the images I just downloaded and it was hard to pick.  There is something VERY cool about their kitchen, where we shot much of the session.  The colors remind me of Alice in wonderland.  So if I was going to name the checker floor Whispers203092008 picture it would be "Wonderland." For the other images nothing beats a good black and white. I just love the sweetness on her little face.

I hope everyone is having a GREAT weekend - and as Bella always says "It is a BEAUTIFUL day, Mommy. The sun is shining outside and we must go play!"

Little Cute One

We didn't go for the classic Smash Cake session because this little one REALLY doesn't like to get dirty.  I am so happy that we went with the swimming suit. It reminds me of things to come as it snows outside today.  I am pretty tired of this weather and can't wait for it to be warm and the pool to be open.

Hard to believe that Little Sydney is 1. Seems like yesterday we were doing her first session and now she went and got all grown up on me.
